Kauai….Day 2

Day 2 in Paradise.  We woke up to the soothing sounds of the ocean and the magnificent view that doesn’t go away.

Our first full day on the island, we spent it indulging at the spa and relaxing by the pool…and ended with a great luau thrown by my mom’s company.

I headed to the spa for my massage at 9am, 30 minutes prior to my scheduled time, to make use of all the amenities the spa had to offer….steam room, sauna, and the most crazy ridiculous shower I’ve ever been in (I showered twice in 1 day just to go in that shower again!).

My mom and I both had the 60 minutes Taro Butter Pohaku Massage at the Halele’a Spahere at the St. Regis Princeville.  It was heaven.  Here’s the description:  ”Smooth basalt stones soothe aches and pains, while promoting circulation and deep relaxation. The warmth and weight of the stones combined with a Taro Butter application induce deep muscle tissue relaxation without overheating.”

It was every bit as good as it sounds, and then some.  The shower had shower heads coming from all angles and the ceiling was covered by one giant rainfall type installment,  it’s safe to say I was in there for a solid 30 minutes each time!  Everything the spa had to offer was just so GOOD….the tea, the cookies, the water (YES, even the water was special).  My favorite were the shampoo, conditioner, and body cream that we were able to use-the Koke’e line by Malie Organics.  I bought a bottle of the cream to bring home, I know every time I use it I’ll be transported right back to this beautiful island!

After the spa I found a seat by their infinity pool and spent the rest of my day there…even with my constant spraying of sunscreen, my attempts to ward off a sunburn were futile-I was nice and pink in weird, splotchy places by the time I went in.  But spending a day by a beautiful pool looking out into the ocean and the mountains across the way was worth a little bit of skin damage (I’ll just have to try harder next time!).

After sufficiently burning my white-as-a-ghost skin and taking my second shower of the day, we headed back down by the pool again for a luau thrown by my mom’s company as a welcome-great drinks, great food, great people, and a great show…perfect end to a perfect first full day in Kauai!
